"Nostalgic Australiana,"
Dion recently showed his fall RTW 14 collection at New York Fashion Week. I always feel like i have really high expectations from Dion Lee, as every collection keeps going from strength to strength. So i was super keen to see his NYFW show, and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Being from Australia I see and love all of the talent we have here but its always hard to know how they will do in the big apple, and taking on the Major fashion capitals of the world, as they are showing up against incredible world renowned labels, such as Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs the list goes on.. Fashion is brutal and it sure isn't easy to break in to. But Dion Lee amazes me, his talent is beyond words, the structure in his pieces, would make anyone wearing his clothing feel beautiful and make any woman feel confident, He is on trend, but by being on trend he is completely his own.
We saw a slightly different side to Dion lee in this collection with tailored silhouettes, asymmetrical skirting, snake skin, Mohair turtle necks, full skirts, sheer shirts, pastel pinks, boxy cuts, chalk stripes, leather, the list goes on.. Dion incorporated every day looks to high end, showing us his immaculate attention to detail, with looks such as the croc leather dresses, harnessed tops and incredible jackets. Its easy to see where his inspiration came from seeing, the outback Australia references, the fedoras, crocodile and snake prints, and silver capped boots, which i have to add i may need a pair of those!
I am beyond impressed with this collection, I would have to add it to one of my top 10 shows I saw this New York Fashion Week. Congrats Dion Lee for another breathtakingly beautiful collection.
